Two years in prison for man who attempted to kidnap real estate agent

LORAIN COUNTY, Ohio — An Ohio man has been sentenced to two years in prison for attempting to abduct a real estate agent.

Michael Evans, 38, of Henrietta Township, Ohio, pleaded guilty to felony abduction and misdemeanor assault.

Police say in August 2020, the realtor was showing a home when Evans and 46-year-old David Helton, of Vermilion, Ohio, approached and asked her for a business card. When she attempted to give them the card, the men grabbed her and attempted to pull her into their car.

Police say one man yelled, “Get her in here,” but the woman broke free, ran into her own vehicle, and locked the doors.

Helton is also charged with felony abduction and misdemeanor assault. He’s due back in court June 9.
