Teacher gets 4 years in prison for inappropriate relationship with student
CAMDEN, N.J. — A former high school literature teacher was sentenced to four years in prison for having an inappropriate relationship with a student.
Bridget Sipera, 37, of Cherry Hill, New Jersey, on May 14, pleaded guilty to one count of third-degree endangering the welfare of a child.
Allegations against Sipera stem from an investigation that began in August 2020, a probe sparked by a report that in January 2019, she started having sex with a 17-year-old male student who attended Camden Catholic High School, where she also coached girls lacrosse.
According to a Courier-Post report, the sex occurred in various places, including in the student’s car and on at least one occasion at his home. The student told police there were about 60 sexual encounters over 18 months.
In addition to prison, Sipera is ordered to forfeit her teaching license, register as a sex offender and undergo supervised parole for the rest of her life.
